Clarinet Convention 30th April 2017 Guest artist Philippe Cuper of the Paris Opera

 

We are hoping that we will be able to bring Philippe Cuper to Cardiff University School of Music Corbett Road Cardiff – for the next Clarinet Convention on Sunday April 30th 2017

9 am – 7pm  so watch this space – as he is a fantastic player, places will go like hot cakes  !! (and book early from the Convention page app forms or  by emailing Chris @craven.f2s.com)

Daniel Rye WNO Bass clarinettist will take a Bass class and compose some new arrangements for bass ensemble also he will coach other ensembles during the day. Virtuoso saxophonist Jennie Porton will give a sax class and we hope that Martin Trillaud  a Vandoren product development specialist and doubling sax player from Paris will also be able to join us.

The day will also consist of classes with Leslie Craven and one to one sessions with Alistair Logan for those who want to play through pieces  and get advice with piano accompaniment but not have to perform in public. Also there will be   concerts, clarinet choirs, master classes and workshops of many different types  including my class on how to fix bad reeds and I will  show other innovative products. There will be lots of chances to form ensembles and have the team coach the ensemble you choose to be in, on a rotation basis so you get many different ideas and view points from all the team.

Virtuoso pianist Chris Williams will again be our accompanist for the day and if numbers warrant it we will book another star player to have two front line pianists – watch this space.

Trade stands will include Vandoren D’Addario, Superpads (Eddie Ashton of Woodwind & Co)  Ridenour clarinet products, MARCA reeds, Gonzalez reeds, plus Rico reeds  and all  will  supply free samples of the reed of your strength.There will be prizes for best class and most promising young player. Accessories and CDs will be on sale and Eddie Ashton will take a short repair and maintenance class.
