Summer 2008
Lee Mottram Wins again !!
Leslie's student Lee entered the competition at the National Eisteddfod of Wales - the most prestigious competition in the Principality and despite having to find a replacement pianist at the eleventh hour he not only won the instrumental category but the overall prize for best instrumentalist - the coveted Blue Ribbon. This is an amazing feat for Lee who suffered a terrible loss when his father died only a few weeks ago so it really shows what strength of character he has in adversity - well done Lee - I watched the competition on television and agreed wholeheartedly with the adjudicators that he deserved the prize.
Lee was playing a Leblanc Opus 2 clarinet and a Leslie Craven Model mouthpiece.
Pictures from the event will be posted soon!!
Summer 2008 Lee Mottram not only won the Cardiff Violins Chamber Music Prize (beating strong competition from other clarinettists several years ahead of him at RWCMD) but also gained the highest mark in the wind faculty of all the first years at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in recent examinations.Well done again Lee
